This copy also had an insert as if it was still the original album, which had two Side 1 tracks switched at the last minute. Then there is a mono promo copy known to exist that lists the deleted tracks on the label, but plays the revised tracks. But there was a pressing plant error: two songs on Side 1 were not in the order as listed on the label. There are two known stereo copies, and both actually DO list the deleted songs on the label. All the known mono copies that play the four deleted songs actually have covers and labels that list the revised album tracks. The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan with the four deleted/replaced tracks is a good one. I remember Warren Zevon's EXCITABLE BOY appeared to have "Werewolves of London" inserted at a late date. And on occassion, I could detect last-minute changes when the fine print on an LP label showed signs of having been altered at the printer's, with listings that were slightly off-center or a different font from the rest of the label. Slightly off-topic, but I purchased albums that were stickered with last-minute or incorrect track listings, presumably due to last minute changes: Neil Young's TRANS, Bruce Springsteen's LIVE IN NEW YORK CITY, Stevie Wonder's ORIGINAL MUSIQUARIUM, and John Fogerty's CENTERFIELD. Isn't there an unreleased version of Cheap Trick's IN COLOR, re-recorded well after the fact, because the band was so unhappy with the original released version?Īnd one of the volumes of The Beatles's ANTHOLOGY series was recalled at a very late date, in order to revise the track listing.Īnd somewhere there's a full E Street Band version of Bruce Springsteen's NEBRASKA. Some Rafferty-produced tracks have eked out as rarities on various compilations. Richard Thompson pulled the plug on the Gerry Rafferty-produced version of SHOOT OUT THE LIGHTS, and re-recorded it with longtime associate Joe Boyd. I think it was from 1963, and is not the 1964 concert being issued Tuesday. I believe there's a Bob Dylan live album from very early in his career that went unreleased. Of course, after years of bootlegs allegedly sourced from copies leaked to Japan, BLACK ALBUM was legitimately issued on CD. Prince's BLACK ALBUM reached a pretty late stage, when he retracted it and issued LOVESEXY instead. Click to expand.I believe this was HOMEGROWN.
